By default, notes are completely public and stored in plain text. The option to password protect notes with a key that only you know is available at any time when authoring a note. To make a note private to you only however, you must create an account.
No account is needed to make notes, this service is completely free and has no barrier to entry. For certain features though, an account is required.
An account is needed to
- Submit a rating for a note
- Collate an aggregate of notes
- Make notes which are private to only you
As many as you want! A user without an account is not limited to the amount of notes that they can publish.
